Cygnus, the “database bureau in a box” application designed for in-house implementation by The Software Bureau, can now be deployed with the Royal Mail’s National Change of Address (NCOA) embedded. The new offering is being demonstrated at the show for the first time.

This is one of the first opportunties to access address change data in a pre-approved solution. The NCOA file is built from Royal Mail’s redirection database. Both old and new addresses of residential customers who have subscribed to the service are available, allowing companies to locate customers who have moved without notifying them.

NCOA is not available directly, so the embedded file allows users to access the data on-demand, without the customary security audit that usually accompanies its use. Over 15 million records can be matched to, reducing the cost of mailings to goneaways. Clients of Cygnus include Help the Aged, Amnesty International and eSure.

David Murray, sales director at The Software Bureau says: “By embedding the NCOA file within Cygnus, we’ve created an in-house, data processing software solution that is unrivalled within the UK market. End-users, bureaux, mailing houses and charities will now be able process their data against the NCOA file without having to go through a lengthy and expensive security audit, saving our customers thousands of pounds in the process.”
